Today I am thankful for a wood fire at 6h40 in the morning
... a cup of coffee tastes amazing sitting outside under a clear blue Joburg
sky, listening to the birds enjoying their 'fly-through-buffet' in our thorn
tree.
After making this lovely fire, we thought we'll go to Fairway Hotel for coffee. (https://guvonhotels.co.za/fairway-hotel/) Both of us were really stressed out and on the spur of the moment, we thought ... why don't we book into a place for the night? With a tight budget, we thought of a few places close to Joburg ....
I phoned Hengelaarsvriend (Roodeplaat dam), (http://www.goingwhere.co.za/hengelaarsvriend) crossing fingers they may have a chalet. And yes!!! 10h15 we booked a chalet for this night.
Quickly popped into the shop for braai stuff, packed a few bags, a crate with kitchen stuff and 12h30 we stopped at our chalet. R500/night! I kid you not!!!! It was the basic 2-sleeper chalet, but we didn't care.
Of course the chalet next to us had a dachshund ...that barked at us!! Grrrrr.
Oh my ... this place is just peace for the soul! We sat down on camping chairs and relaxed. Always so amusing to watch the other side of the dam .... lots of tents with fishermen ... and unbelievable how sound travels ... sometimes we can hear every sound.
